As the skin ages, it gradually loses collagen, elastin and fat. These are the components of the skin that give it structure - the scaffolding of the skin. When present in high amounts, skin is supple, firm and plump. As the levels of these components decrease, our skin becomes thinner, more lined and wrinkled with reduced volume, plumpness and fullness.  Strategically placed fillers take the place of lost fat pads and collagen. Some even promote the production of collagen. This helps to restore the skin's volume and fill deep wrinkles, thus giving the face a firmer, more youthful appearance.  Not only are injectable fillers used to restore lost volume and firmness, they can also be used to sculpt and change the appearance of your face.  So, fillers have a huge range of uses:  Lip augmentation - probably the most common use of dermal fillers Filling static, deep lines around the lips, the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial lines), smile lines, marionette lines and crow’s feet Adding volume to sunken cheeks and weak chins Liquid or lunchtime facelift Non-surgical rhinoplasty Filling deep acne scars Rejuvenating ageing hands and necks There are over 60 brands of dermal filler available in the UK. Some of the most commonly used are:  Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Ellanse®, Sculptra® and Perfectha®  Practitioners will likely use a range of brands for different treatments, based on their knowledge and experience.  There are products available which can dissolve fillers

Chemical peels are a way of deeply exfoliating the skin (chemiexfoliation). They typically contain acids of varying strengths and types which remove the sun damaged, thicker, outer layers of dead skin.

There are three broad types of chemical peel:

  • Superficial peels which remove part of the outer, epidermal layer of skin
  • Medium-depth peels which remove the whole epidermal layer and can reach the upper dermal layers
  • Deep peels which remove the epidermal, upper dermal and can reach the deep dermal layers of skin

The depth of the peel depends on the strength and type of acid used. Only medically qualified practitioners should administer the more concentrated, deeper, more effective acid peels.

Chemical peels can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, age spots, sun damage and acne scarring, resulting in smoother, more even skin. They do this in part by removing superficial damaged skin, but also by stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers.

Prices for the chemical peels we offer at MAHC start at  £90 for a superficial peel and upwards of £150 for a medium-depth peel.

Profhilo® is an injectable skin treatment made from highly concentrated, highly purified hyaluronic acid (HA). Far less viscous than hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Profhilo®’s runnier consistency means that as it is injected into the skin, it spreads within a 2cm radius of the injection site.  Profhilo® is injected into 10 specific areas

Profhilo® is injected into 10 specific areas of the face, known as the BAP (bio aesthetic points). 5 injections of 0.2ml are administered on each side of the face. The product then spreads under the surface of the skin where it immediately hydrates deep within the skin, due to the hydrophilic (water-loving) properties of the hyaluronic acid.Profhilo® also acts as a ‘bio-remodeller’. It gets broken down after around 28 days, but prior to breaking down, it stimulates significant collagen and elastin synthesis, resulting in plumper, tighter, smoother, more supple skin.
